What is Ling Trust?

At Ling Trust, we believe everyone should have a place to call home. Not just a roof over their head, but a space where they feel safe, respected, and free to live life on their own terms. Our name stands for Living Independently, Not Grouped, and reflects our roots in the movement away from long-stay institutions that began in the 1980s. Too many people with learning disabilities and autism remain in hospitals or unsuitable accommodation because the right housing simply isn’t there. We’re here to help change that.

We provide specialist housing management for people with additional needs. Our tenants live in shared or individual homes, and we work closely with care teams, local authorities, families, and private landlords to make sure those homes are right for the people living in them. Our work spans Essex, Northampton, Wembley, Bradford/Yorkshire, Lancashire, and Hertfordshire.

We also deliver person-centred planning training across England and Wales to help other organisations, staff, and families put the individual at the heart of their housing decisions.

A Better Way to Provide Homes

Our housing isn’t one-size-fits-all. We offer a variety of properties, from shared homes to fully self-contained places, that reflect the diverse needs of our tenants. Some homes are specially adapted, others are chosen for their location or layout, but all are designed to support independence, comfort, and community.

We lease these properties from private landlords and housing providers who share our values. This gives us the flexibility to offer secure tenancies in ordinary homes, right in the communities where people want to live. We make sure these homes meet high standards, are well maintained, and truly suit the individual needs of our tenants.

Our role is to act as a trusted intermediary between tenants, landlords, and support providers. That means every home is managed to a high standard, and every tenant has someone on their side making sure things are right. We keep housing and care separate, so people maintain their rights and choice no matter what changes around them.

The people who live in our homes are always central to the decisions about them. And when things change, we adapt.
