The Friendship
& Wellness Project
At Ling Trust, we believe well-being isn’t just about having a home—it’s about feeling connected, valued, and supported. That’s why we launched the Friendship & Wellness Project, funded by an Awards for All grant from The National Lottery. This initiative explores what well-being means for people with learning disabilities and autism.
The project is co-produced and led by individuals with lived experience, sharing their personal journeys of mental health, social connection, and independence. Through friendship, creativity, fitness, and personal growth, every contribution helps shape a bigger conversation about what well-being really looks like.
We’ve created a dedicated Facebook page where people can share ideas, connect with others, and celebrate the everyday things that support their well-being—like baking, walking, art, friendship, and simply being heard.
What the Project Involves
The Friendship & Wellness Project is about sharing real experiences of well-being and community. People involved tell their own stories, highlighting how they build friendships, stay active, and find joy in everyday life. Whether through hobbies, fitness, or simply having the right support, the project showcases different ways individuals manage their well-being.
A key part of this initiative is bringing people together and encouraging them to share their experiences. It creates a space where individuals feel valued, included, and supported by their peers. The project also offers practical insights into well-being, with people sharing what works for them in their daily lives.
Above all, this project is led by the people who matter most. Instead of organisations speaking on their behalf, individuals tell their own stories, in their own way.
